On March 12, Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met with Saifi, CEO of the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), in London, UK. Both sides exchanged views on such topics as deepening cooperation in green, low-carbon and sustainable development, maintaining the stability of the global industrial and supply chains, and tackling climate change.

The Sustainable Markets Initiative was launched by Britain's King Charles III when he was Prince of Wales in 2020 at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. The SMI is a multilateral business cooperation mechanism in the field of sustainable development, aiming to unite the efforts of the business community to jointly tackle climate change, protect biodiversity, and promote the achievement of sustainable development goals. Under the joint support, promotion and deployment of President Xi Jinping and King Charles III, CCPIT established the Sustainable Markets Initiative's China Council in August 2022.
